Education

My educational journey began at Western Washington University, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Language Arts with a concentration in Writing and a minor in Communications in 1997. In 2003, I returned to Western Washington University to complete a post-baccalaureate teaching program and earned my teaching certification in both elementary and secondary education. From 2003 to 2019, I worked as a classroom teacher, gaining extensive experience supporting students across a variety of grade levels and learning needs. While pursuing my master's degree, I continued working as a substitute teacher for several years. In 2018, I earned a Master's degree in Special Education.

Special Education

 In 2025, I worked full-time in special education, most recently serving as a Special Education Coordinator for my school district. My experience working with diverse learners, collaborating with educators and families, and implementing individualized supports has prepared me to contribute effectively to a private school setting while meeting OSPI standards and fostering academic excellence for all students.

I believe that learning happens best when a child feels completely understood, safe, and supported. Educating the whole child means recognizing that emotional well-being and social confidence are directly tied to academic success. If a student is anxious, frustrated, or lacking confidence, their ability to take academic risks decreases. By intentionally weaving social-emotional support into personalized instruction, I help students develop not just the skills to pass a test, but the mindset, empathy, and resilience they need to succeed throughout their lives.
